Colourful is the new black

Richly coloured autumn in Ausseerland

The traditional Ausseer Kirtag (church foundation anniversary celebration) not only rings in the start of autumn in entertaining fashion, this time of the year in Ausseerland is also colourful and virtually fog-free. Autumn therefore offers many more opportunities to enjoy the fresh air and the area surrounding the Seevilla spending a colourful holiday in Styrian Salzkammergut.

Die Burgruine Pflindsberg inmitten der malerischen Steiermark bei Altaussee ist ein Ausflug wert

Vacation in autumn: wonderful ambience, colorful landscape

Discover the Hollywood-worthy Altaussee – walk to the Seewiese, filming location for the 24th James Bond film, and travel back with the solar boat. Follow in the footsteps of Nicolas Cage by scaling the summit of the Loser mountain, and visit the salt mine recognisable from ‘The Monuments Men’ in a mythical evening tour entitled ‘Treasure in the Mountain’.

Autumn vacation in Ausseerland: hiking in the clear mountain air

The Seevilla is also a starting point for many different hikes in Ausseerland. As a round trip you can go around the Plattenkogel mountain or hike to the ruined Pflindsberg castle. More demanding hikes take you up in altitude over several hours to the Loser or Trisselwand mountains.

On request, we will prepare rucksacks with snacks for short or longer hikes – wearing your own good walking boots and functional clothing is recommended in all cases.

You could also explore the area around the Seevilla somewhat faster by bike. A selection of bicycles is available to you at the hotel – from retro bikes to e-bikes, as well as helmets for your safety. Salzkammergut is known for its bike routes, so you can also discover more of the surrounding region by bike during an autumn visit.

Goose Dinner on St. Martin

Autumn offers a particularly wide range of activities, but the culinary side of matters should not be forgotten. When the children celebrate the Martinsfest with their homemade lanterns, we also take the opportunity to brighten up the Seevilla with the glow of countless lights. Around 11 November, we invite guests to the annual Ganslessen (goose eating). The evening is made even more special by the sensational Grundlseer Geigenmusi musical quartet.
